About
Yên Tử is a sacred mountain range in Quảng Ninh. In 1299, King Trần Nhân Tông (1258–1308) left the throne to practise here and founded the Trúc Lâm school, a distinctly Vietnamese line of Zen.
The pilgrim's path passes Giải Oan Pagoda, the Patriarch's Stupa and Hoa Yên Pagoda before reaching the Bronze Pagoda at the summit. On clear days a sea of clouds spreads below it.
In 2025, the Yên Tử – Vĩnh Nghiêm – Côn Sơn, Kiếp Bạc complex was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
